Day 1: Depart the Rio Grande Valley and travel to the lovely seaport of Tampico which is on the Gulf of Mexico. Along the way you see farmland and as you draw closer to Tampico things will be a little more tropical. Our first night will be at the Hotel Holiday Inn Plaza de Armas. 

Day 2: Today you will enjoy the marvelous archeological ruins of El Tajin . El Tajin belongs to the Totonaca culture, it took shape during the late Classic period and reached its peak development during the transition to the Post-Classic, between 800 and 1150 A.D. The word Tajin means "The Sacred city of the Dead and of the Thunder in Storm". This jewel of Totonac history features the Pyramid of the Niches, considered one of the world’s most ancient and beautiful buildings. Also home of the Flying Indians of Papantla.  Over night in Poza Rica, our hotel is the Best Western downtown. Breakfast

Day 3:  It’s on to our main destination, flowing the coast line we will pass banana plantation as we travel to Veracruz. An included city tour will give you a view of the first city where Cortez landed on his quest for riches. The Hotel Howard Johnson will be your home for the next 3 nights, the parade pass in front of our hotel. Night in Veracruz. Breakfast

Day 4: Today we leave the city of Veracruz as we travel to the state capital Xalapa. Xalapa, a word which comes from xallapam, a nahuatl compound meaning "spring in the sand", was originally a market town along the Spanish route to Mexico City. One of Mexico's most pleasant cities featuring colonial architecture, enviable coastal mountain climate (1426 meters) with cobble stone streets. Included in our tour is a visit to General Santa Ana’s favorite hacienda “El Lencero” It houses an excellent collection of antique furniture, including maybe Santa Anna's bed. It gives you an idea of how the rich used to live and how they took care of the entire village. Free evening, night in Veracruz. Breakfast.

Day 5: Today we stay in Veracruz taking in the local market which is filled with fruits of all kinds and everything else you can think of. Also a visit to Boca del Rio and the malecon where you can find sea food restaurants of all kinds. Rest of the day is free for shopping. Night Veracruz. Breakfast

Day 6: After breakfast we leave back to Tampico making a short stop at an old city called “La Antigua” Cortez’s first settlement. Night at Hotel Holiday Inn Plaza de Armas Breakfast

Day 7:  Today we say good-by to Mexico as we head back to the Valley, arriving late afternoon. Breakfast
